Message from ForwardChess

Here’s a message I’ve received from Lenny at FowardChess for us:

Greetings from Forward Chess!

We are working with Dan Heisman on a few things related to his books and I thought your group might be interested in hearing about it.
Dan just recorded a video (a part of our series Author Files) about one of his books, World’s Most Instructive Amateur Game Book, illustrating a few things from it.
The video is here:

There is a promotion related to the video – 40% discount off any (all) of Dan’s books on the Forward Chess platform from our webstore. (Note that the discount is in the Forward Chess webstore (shopping cart screen) only. Mobile app stores (Google Play and iTunes) don’t allow this type of stuff.) There are seven books by Dan there, from multiple publishers.
The coupon code is DANH, it is valid through December 15.

Find Players by Time Zone

A new feature has been added. Check out Members from our menu. Now there’s an option to condition the list according to player time zone preferences. Note that this info is sometimes missing or for various reasons inaccurate. But it is generally very helpful in finding possible opponents that may be easier for you to schedule with. (Note that we have in the past used this to prioritize pairings in our swiss tournaments, but there are currently not enough participants in a single section for this to be practical.) This new feature should be particularly helpful for players working on monthly 30 Day Challenges.

30 Day Challenge Begins

Forums have been opened for our November 30 Day Challenge! Though play will begin no sooner than 0:00 LT/NY on Friday, November 1, forums are open now for players to begin negotiating times to play. We have 10 Challenge players in our first official event! All of them will show up in your My Tournament Games list so that you can find your way to the player forums to get your game. Though the Challengers are all qualified league players, you don’t have to be to get these games. Any member of slowchessleague.org, our DHLC club on Chess.com, or our Slow Chess League club on Chess.com are eligible to play these games. Times to play can be arranged in the forums, or any way the players prefer such as posting in club notes or via personal messages. Find more about these special rules by reading one of the Challenge forums.
