ICC Players

ICClogo5

Did you know that we now have signups for our very first ever tournament section to be played on the ICC? Our Grand Opening Swiss starting Mar. 9 features a special section for ICC players at a time control of G/45+45 with swiss open pairing. The only requirements are that you are a Slow Chess League member and also a current member of ICC. Sign up now by editing your profile. Choose Tournaments | Signups on the main menu above for instructions and a video for getting signed up.

Are You Signed Up?

Check out the new links on Tournaments | Signups to double check your signup for Qualifier #30 or the Grand Opening Swiss. Please note that these links are to preliminary unverified lists. This is useful to make sure that you checked the boxes to sign up but is not a guarantee that you will be included in a tournament or section as a TD needs to verify player status, etc.

Update – Signups for Qualifier #30 have closed. Now new players can sign up for Qualifier #31.

Did You Get the Word Yet?

Swiss

This is it! This is the big one! Our Grand Opening Swiss tournament! This will be a 5 round tournament beginning March 9, 2015 at a time control of G/45+45 or G/90+30, depending on section. You can play on either Chess.com or ICC or sign up for both.

The ICC portion will be paired as a single open section at  G/45+45. The Chess.com portion will have 2 choices for players at G/45+45 or an additional choice at G/90+30. You can sign up to play in an open section of all ratings, or sign up to play in sections by ratings to be determined according to turnout for G/45+45. But you can’t sign up for both. You must choose one or the other. But you also have the option of another open section at G/90+30! Sign up for this instead of or in addition to a G/45+45 section. Open sections may be paired using an accelerated pairing method depending on turnout.

You must be a member of any server you sign up for and must have correctly listed your Server ID on your Base Profile to be eligible. Any player signing up to play on the Chess.com server must be a member of the Dan Heisman Learning Center and have been qualified for league play on Chess.com to be eligible.

So, how do you sign up? Just choose Tournaments | Signups on the menu above, read the directions, and watch the video. Or, if you are already familiar, just Edit your Profile.

Now Is a Good Time

Now Is a Good Time

You know how it is. Tournaments always start on Mondays, so you almost never have games scheduled for Mondays or Tuesdays. Well, now is the time to put your offer to play on Monday or Tuesday on the Game Finder calendar. And while you are there, take a look at offers already posted that might suit you.

Beta Feature

The Tournament Hall menu option has now been disabled. Please use Tournaments | My Games to get to your Game Topics. Please message SirIvanhoe for help if you are unable to do this. Thanks!

betaThere’s a new feature in town called My Games. You can find it by choosing Tournaments | My Games from the main menu. It is accessible by Members only. You’ll see the current tournaments in spoiler boxes that contain basic tournament info. If you aren’t playing in any tournaments this week, then that’s it. You won’t see anything else. But if you are playing one or more games this week you’ll see them listed under the appropriate tournament(s). And, they are clickable links! So, just click on one and you’ll go straight to your Game Topic! No navigating, no groups, no round forums, no long pairings lists …. just go right to where you want to go. Note that Slow Swiss #21 finishing up on the Chess.com server is not included. Please check it out and let us know if it works properly for you and what you think about it. Your input is valued and much appreciated.
