Grand Opening Swiss

Swiss

This is it! This is the big one! Our Grand Opening Swiss tournament! This will be a 5 round tournament beginning March 9, 2015 at a time control of G/45+45. You can play on either Chess.com or ICC or sign up for both.

The ICC portion will be paired as a single open section. The Chess.com portion will have 2 choices for players. You can sign up to play in an open section of all ratings, or sign up to play in sections by ratings to be determined according to turnout. But you can’t sign up for both open and sections by rating for Chess.com. You must choose one or the other. Open sections may be paired using an accelerated pairing method depending on turnout.

You must be a member of any server you sign up for and must have correctly listed your Server ID on your Base Profile to be eligible. Any player signing up to play on the Chess.com server must be a member of the Dan Heisman Learning Center and have been qualified for league play on Chess.com to be eligible.

So, how do you sign up? Just choose Tournaments | Signups on the menu above and read the directions. Or, if you are already familiar, just Edit your Profile.

Game Finder

calendarNow members can see a view-only version of our Game Finder right on the front page. You’ll see up to 3 upcoming items posted on that calendar. But you can’t add new entries or edit them here. To do that, or to see a larger monthly calendar view, just go to Calendars | Game Finder on the main menu. This is the easiest way to get a partner for a slow chess game. You don’t need to sign up for a tournament or make any multiple week commitments. Just offer a date and time (or range of times). Or, check the calendar for a posting at a time that suits you. Players exchange messages here at slowchessleague.org and arrange a game, changing the color of the calendar entry when they are scheduled. Then just show up and play! Try it now!
